It's really kind of egregious. I'm studying in university right now and recently I realized that my education on Africa thus far has been like... 7 sentences in total. So, I searched for a class on African history and I found one.

One.

"Huh," I thought. "Maybe their usual professors are just on sabbatical or something."

As it turns out, the distribution of expertise is something like 40% US history, 30% Western European history, 10% Chicano studies, 10% East Asian history, 7% Russian history and 3% Middle Eastern history. We have one professor who specializes in the history of any location in Africa, and it's Eritrea.
